KEN THOMPSON
Founder of H.U.T. Strap
“Heads up!” I heard my coaches shout this phrase countless times, day after day, throughout the many years I played youth football in the 1970s. Later in life, I watched my own son play youth football, and I was slightly amused to hear his coach giving the same ‘heads up’ instruction with the same level of intensity. While many aspects of football have changed over the years, it’s clear that Heads Up Training has not.
As the widespread concern about football head injuries continued to grow, I decided that a more direct training mechanism needed to be created to protect players. Studies have shown that proper positioning of the head at the point of contact is a major factor in preventing injuries. I have spent over a year and half developing my ‘heads up’ training tool, consulting with physicians, coaches, trainers, equipment managers, and even mechanical engineers. The end result? A safe and easy-to-use training tool that also serves as an effective means to teach a learned behavior.
The H.U.T. (Heads Up Training) Strap is the first
and only “heads up” training tool. When worn it provides athletes with proprioception, bio-feedback, and muscle memory during participation in contact sports. Because
of its utility as both a safety and performance tool,
it is recommended for all levels of play. The H.U.T. Strap
is made from durable military-grade nylon webbing,
and it comes with a lifetime warranty. Made in the U.S.A.
Now backed by the National Center
for Sports Safety, Texas High School Association,
and Alabama Football Coaches Association.
